Cigarette Daydreams – Ally Ameel

as autumn is approaching

music fills my ears

of songs painted with deep hues

like dark burgundy

and crisp browns

and the shades

of the shadows of summer

like a muted version

of happiness

and everything falls

big leaves that cover sidewalks

assuring me with the sound

of cracking and crinkling

underneath my feet

and rain falls down

every now and then

chilling the air

and sometimes

my heart falls

inside my chest

and all I can think of

is how hard I’m trying

not to like you

at all

because I’m so not over you
